Thursday, 6th and Wednesday 12th June, 2024

Midday Office and Mass | Lunch | Tour | Evensong | Supper

You are warmly invited to join us on a visit to the Community of the Resurrection, Mirfield. It’ll be a bit of an ‘Experience Day’ where we will participate in the daily rhythm of the community, as well as enjoy fellowship together and an informative tour, led by Fr Peter Allan CR. As you know, Peter has been the Assistant Priest in Severn Loop for getting on for five years now, so this is a lovely opportunity to visit the place that has been his home for so long, and to learn more about its history and worshipping life.

Because numbers are limited, we are taking two groups:
Thursday, 6th June (11 spaces available)
Wednesday, 12th June (13 spaces available)

We’re hoping to cut down on costs by sharing cars. Hannah has space for seven passengers, so that’s a start! The journey time is just over two hours.

12 noon – Midday Office and Mass
1.00 pm – Lunch
Afternoon – a tour (given by Peter), free time, and time to sit and chat in the Retreat House Common Room (with tea, coffee and biscuits)
6.00 pm – Evensong
6.45 pm – Supper (in silence)

The cost of our time at Mirfield will be about £27 per person (they will confirm nearer the date). We will then just need to work out our share of the fuel to get there.

If you would like to reserve a space, do contact Hannah (revhannahlins@gmail.com), stating your chosen date and any dietary requirements.

Coach trip to Worcester Cathedral: Thursday, 21st September 2023

Special group tour | Afternoon tea | Choral Evensong

A view from the choir towards the east window in Worcester Cathedral

We leave by coach from Bicton - opposite the church - at 9.00am, picking up in Bomere Heath - outside the Mission Church - at 9.20am, and arrive in Worcester at around 11.15am. This should give you plenty of time to explore this historical city and enjoy a leisurely lunch before meeting up again in the Cathedral at 2.30pm for the afternoon tour. We will be having a special ‘Famous People’ tour – featuring King John, Edward Elgar and ‘Woodbine Willie’, to name a few – before proceeding to the Cloister Café for afternoon tea. Following tea, we make our way to the Choir for a service of Choral Evensong at 5.30pm, after which we head back to the coach, returning to Bomere Heath at around 8.30pm and Bicton at around 8.50pm.

The cost will be £25pp for the coach and cathedral tour. There will also be a selection of afternoon tea options at an additional cost (details and prices to be confirmed) which will need to be pre-booked at a later date.

To book, please fill in your name, email address if you have one and, most importantly, a mobile telephone number that we will be able to reach you on on the day of the trip, on the form that you will find in your church, along with a non-refundable £10 deposit per person which you should give to Peter, Hannah, Joyce or the organiser, Gillian Steedman, in Bicton.

The closing date for bookings is 31st July. Final payment for the coach, tour and afternoon tea options will be due on or before 7th September.

The tour is open to Loop parishioners, their families and friends.
